What is Industrial Design?

comp-scrnshotAs defined by the IDSA (Industrial Designers of America), Industrial Design is “the professional service of creating products and systems that optimize function, value and appearance for the mutual benefit of the user and manufacturer.”

Industrial designers develop a concept and its specifications through the collection and analysis of information given to them by their clients. They are trained to prepare clear and concise recommendations through their drawings and models.  Industrial designers often work within multi-disciplinary groups within an organization, including management, marketing, engineering and manufacturing.
