Will Lime Design Keep My Idea Confidential?
Absolutely! On top of the fact that all our conversations are bound by NDA agreements, we are literally inventors ourselves. We know how hard an original idea is to come up with, so we understand the feeling of wanting to keep it safe. Our goal as a team and as inventors is to help you bring your idea to life, not to pass it off to somebody else.
What processes lead up to a prototype?
When working with any prototype companies, the process will be the same.
Research – Concept – Prototype Development – Prototyping /Testing
Is a patent needed before I start developing an invention?
No, although eventually, you will need a patent. We’ve found that it’s best to file for a design patent after the final design has been chosen. This way you will avoid having to re-patent and spend unnecessary money.
Additionally, once you’re ready to patent, we can do the patent drawings and we work with patent attorneys if needed.
Why Is a Prototype important?
A prototype is an essential part of the whole product development process. It’s one thing to visualize the product in 3D software, but real testing is required in real life. A prototype allows you to be hands-on with it and begin stress testing, see any design flaws, check for human factors that can really be thought about in the 3D software, the list goes on. Here at Lime Design, we strive on making the process lean and effective, but there will always be several prototype stages, it’s just part of the process.
What Do You Use to Build Prototypes?
Equipment – We have all the standard machines including, Full Color 3D Printers, CNC Machines, Plasma Cutters and Welders. With all our equipment & machines combined with our engineers & designers, we are one of the few prototype companies that have to outsource. We can almost always fully build your prototype in-house.
Software – We use 3D CAD, Solidworks, Fusion,Zbrush, Blender, Cinema 4D, and Adobe Creative Cloud Apps
