Throw Raft

Inflatable Throwable Device for Water Safety

Design Focus:

Creating a nice looking and heavy-duty plastic enclosure

ThrowRaft is the world’s first inflatable, throwable Type IV flotation device, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. 90% smaller than traditional life rings, it provides a space-saving and effective safety tool—easily accessible when and where it counts most. Its high-visibility design and SOLAS reflective tape make it suitable for lightning-fast rescue use in emergencies

Concept Development:

Packing maximum flotation into a minimal footprint

We helped define ThrowRaft’s unique positioning—an emergency flotation device that’s easy to store, carry, and deploy. Inspired by real-world boating limitations, we focused on packing maximum flotation into a minimal footprint without sacrificing visibility or performance.

200+ hours of Design & Development

Prototyping:

Iterative Design Grounded in Real-World Testing

Our team manufactured prototypes to test cannisters, sealing fins, integrated grab handles, and deployment performance. Each iteration went through rigorous real-world testing, replicating scenarios where ThrowRaft’s space-saving format and rapid inflation—manually or on contact with water—had to shine under pressure.

3D Modeling & Engineering:

Fine-tuning structural and functional features

Using detailed digital CAD, we precisely engineered ThrowRaft’s structural and functional features, including USCG-compliant floatation volume, auto-inflation mechanics, and the layout of SOLAS-grade reflective elements. We fine-tuned its compact geometry to allow both packed and inflated use, ensuring 21″×22″ buoyancy once deployed.
