Concept Development

We helped define ThrowRaft’s unique positioning—an emergency flotation device that’s easy to store, carry, and deploy. Inspired by real-world boating limitations, we focused on packing maximum flotation into a minimal footprint without sacrificing visibility or performance .

Using detailed digital CAD, we precisely engineered ThrowRaft’s structural and functional features, including USCG-compliant floatation volume, auto-inflation mechanics, and the layout of SOLAS-grade reflective elements. We fine-tuned its compact geometry to allow both packed and inflated use, ensuring 21″×22″ buoyancy once deployed.

Our team manufactured prototypes to test cannisters, sealing fins, integrated grab handles, and deployment performance. Each iteration went through rigorous real-world testing, replicating scenarios where ThrowRaft’s space-saving format and rapid inflation—manually or on contact with water—had to shine under pressure.

To complement the product’s function-first design, we developed optimized packaging that protects the unit while clearly displaying safety credentials. We also supported early launch operations, helping prepare technical materials and USCG labeling to facilitate product introduction and regulatory compliance. 

Additionally, to increase usability in a range of environments, we also supported the development of a dedicated mounting case, ideal for securely housing ThrowRaft on boats, docks, or marina posts. The case design ensures easy visibility, access, and weather-resistant protection, while remaining slim enough for tight storage areas. We engineered the mounting features to integrate cleanly with boat rails and vertical surfaces without obstructing deployment.
